The apartment in the “Lepa Brena” apartment block

“Lepa Brena” is an apartment block in Foča, in the neighbourhood of Gornje Polje. The apartment of Radomir Kovač, deputy commander of the VRS Military Police and leader of the paramilitary forces in the town of Foča, was located in this apartment block. This apartment functioned as a private detention facility, where Kovač and other VRS members raped and sexually abused Bosniak women and girls. The female detainees were also forced to do housework in Kovač’s apartment.
